An Urban Room is a space where people can come together to help create a future for their local area with a focus on our shared built environment - streets, neighbourhoods and public spaces.
Part of the Urban Rooms Network, we have opened Sandwell’s first Urban Room at Smethwick Library.
Open every Tuesday 10am - 5pm and Friday 10am - 3pm.
From 29th October 2024 until the end of March 2025 you are invited to share your dreams and wishes, hope and fears, for Smethwick.
We'll ask you to think about Smethwick in the context of happier, healthier and safer communities and how the design of our area can affect those things.
How can our urban environment be designed to enable residents of all ages to feel safe and supported, to be able to know each other, to be able to work together, play together and to lead positive change for ourselves and our communities?
Our host Rachel and many artists, community workers, volunteers, archivists and regeneration specialists will be here and will invite you to be curious and reflective, to share your opinions and get inspiration.
Watch out for our forthcoming after school and evening/weekend programme too.
